Third-Act Trouble

From August 9, 2015, to March 30, 2018, I wrote a daily letter, called “Third-Act Trouble” to about 360 people. It started out as an exploration of what people do as they near the end of their careers, then lapsed into man-on-the-street interviews in New York and Mexico City and, mostly, the serialized memoir of my youth, trying to achieve two goals — become a writer, and find a wife. With a single click below, you can download a PDF of all 389 postings, which together are as long as any two of our books, combined. At the very least I recommend reading the first one, so you know what the whole thing was supposed to be about.
